Not only do you have the unique opportunity to show your interest in history, but you can also engage in an interesting discussion of your own views about ancient thought or even about current events. Here are some of the most common debate topics that students find useful when debating with others about their own views about these fascinating periods in human history.
One of the most common debate topics is the political stance of a country towards its foreign policy. This can be one of the more serious debate topics for those who are taking foreign policy courses, as there is an entire field of scholarship on foreign affairs and how governments conduct themselves within and outside their borders. However, these two topics can often be turned into a humorous debate if one person's view is considered 'the wrong'oppressive' for the other. This can then lead to a fun game of two or more 'presidents' trying to outdo each other in an effort to come up with the 'wrong' answer to the question. A question about esoteric aspects of history such as rare books, maps, or obscure societies can bring both sides of the argument to the floor and can be extremely interesting to watch. For example, some people believe that governments cannot organize their operations efficiently unless they collect more information, while others believe that it is not necessary to gather as much information as a government might collect. In order to come up with a good argument for or against this position, both sides have to sit down and discuss their views as to whether or not they are correct, and what they believe are the facts that support their arguments. Another great conversation starter that happens to be a bit unorthodox, but still has a lot of potential is to ask the topic, 'What makes you think that?'. There are many different types of people with a wide range of opinions, so you may feel as though you need to research and interpret all of the possible answers in order to make your point. While you are at it, you can also ask the other person what makes them think that as well. This has long been used as a test question to see if a person is a logical thinker, since it asks what the person 'thinks' rather than what the person 'knows'. However, there is no set reason why the statement should be asked in this manner; just as long as you do not get too excited about getting a 'right' answer, and allow yourself to have fun while you are thinking about what the other person may be saying, you can bring this very interesting topic into the debate. Another one of the more interesting question would be something like 'What makes you think that...' with the other person simply responding with a little something about themselves. This can give a student a chance to ask a question and then respond to the other person's response. This will lead to a very interesting debate between two very different perspectives. Although you may not use every single debate topics mentioned here, you can expect that these are going to be on the minds of many students. What are your thoughts on unusual debate topics?

Well, one of the best ways to think about this question is to turn those photos into an essay topic. For example, you will be dealing with situations where men and women were nude, or when men and women used their own private parts to become so gorgeous. These may be funny, but some topics of this type are based on actual issues that you may encounter while being around women. Of course, don't limit yourself to certain areas - you can use other types of topics such as politics, religion, the environment, you name it, you may try it. Women are extremely active and always have their hands full, as such it only stands to reason that some topics will address topics of this nature. If you want to create a discussion on the life of Morrie Schwartz, you should use the same idea of combining essay topics with topics of women. When you consider the life of one of the greatest American scientists, he was said to be a mediocre scientist. But, despite his lack of accomplishments, he succeeded, by living his life to the fullest, he made others follow in his footsteps and by doing so paved the way for others to fulfill his dreams. You may also use the ideas from Morrie Schwartz to create an essay topic that incorporates some of the topics above. Just bear in mind though that you must stay true to the topic you create and that you shouldn't change the essence of what you intended to say with the topic - that means making sure you have good grammar and writing well, plus you should avoid plagiarism. |
